Use John 11:25-26 to guide your prayer over Mosul-
“Martha,” Jesus said, “I am the Resurrection, and I am Life Eternal. Anyone who clings to me in faith, even though he dies, will live forever. And the one who lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
Pray for the people of Mosul to know Jesus as the Resurrection and the Life.
Those who mourn
There is so much grief held in the hearts of the peoples of Mosul. Though maybe unable to ever share it with another, the grief is still there. Always a back-drop, clouding the details of their day to day lives. May the Lord turn their mourning into joy and comfort them and give them joy for their sorrow (Jeremiah 31:13).
“The Lifter of my head“
May the peoples of Mosul be able to join with the Psalmist in saying, “But in the depths of my heart I truly know that you, Yahweh, have become my Shield; You take me and surround me with Yourself. Your glory covers me continually. You lift high my head.” (Psalm 3:3)
“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:19) As Your followers in Mosul enter into spiritually dark places, may they exercise the Kingdom authority You have delegated to Your church through Christ Jesus.
